ASIS - Part 1
He nodded, as she said it was confusing..It must be, for her. Right now, anyways. He sighed, rubbing his stubble with the palm of his hand. “Maybe it’ll come to you again..” he said, scratching his neck, looking down. “It’s ..odd, that you feel like it’s a sign.” No, it isn’t not at all. It makes perfect sense. He really hoped that she couldn’t sense his sudden change of mood, and tone. His sadness, and the twisting in his stomach. He replayed her dream inside his own head, his own memory that the both of them shared. The sound of her voice replaced the crash of the telescope.
“Hmm?..” he said, coming back into the present. He listened to her muse for a moment, and then she mentioned his expression from back then. He looked back down, his hair covering his eyes, and he squeezed then shut tight. Pai, don’t..Don’t bring this up now..Do— ..but he was cut short from even his own thoughts at her next question. She had to ask, didn’t she? He sighed, and brought his hands up, wrapping his fingers together, He nodded slowly, “Yeah..It did, actually.” but he wasn’t about to tell her the real reason why. Not yet.
“You think so?” Pai asked him, her brows knit together. Maybe it was. It did sound a little dumb to put it that way. She tapped her finger against her chin a few times and looked down to her toes, wiggling them a bit in her slippers. “Maybe you’re right..that would be kind of dumb.” She let out a little laugh and shook her head. “A sign? Yeah right~ Silly me…” Though since her head ache hadn’t actually gone away yet, she calmed and frowned again.
She looked his way after he said his telescope really did break and her expression changed into surprise and concern. It really did!? But that couldn’t have been possible. Before the dreams her memories never once revealed that it had fallen over and broken. “I-It did?” She set the glass of water down and put her hands in her hair for just a moment. “Why? When…? Where? Was it by the lake down the hill from home? O-Or…” She couldn’t even finish what she was saying. Her confusion on the matter was only rising.
